For British qualifications to be recognized in Italy, both for the continuation of studies (school/university) and for work or freelance purposes, it is necessary for the relevant Consulate to issue a document called DICHIARAZIONE DI VALORE IN LOCO. The nature of this document is merely informative, as it describes the foreign qualification obtained and provides elements for proper assessment by education authorities in Italy. A dichiarazione di valore does not imply any recognition, equivalence or approval of the qualification to which it refers. Subsequently, the education Authorities in Italy (Ministry of Education, Ministry of University and Research, Provincial Educational Offices, Universities, etc.) will proceed to declare the equivalence (called equipollenza) of the foreign qualifications to similar Italian qualifications.
This Consulate may issue a dichiarazione di valore only if related to educational or professional qualifications issued by secondary or academic institutions or by officially recognized professional bodies based in Manchester’s consular district.
