Children under 14, holder of an Italian passport or other travelling document, whos are travelling abroad accompanied by a person other than their parents, or are entrusted with the care of airline staff, require a ‘specific declaration of accompaniment’. This document needs to indicate the name of the person, organization, or airline in whose care the child has been entrusted. Applicants must specify the dates of the journey (one-way and/or return) and the exact destination. This document cannot be requested for journeys taking place entirely within Italy or entirely within the United Kingdom. Applications are received only by post by enclosing:
- Photocopies of both parents valid photo ID.
- Photocopy of the child’s valid Italian photo ID (must be valid for travelling abroad).
- Photocopy of the accompanying person’s valid photo ID (must be valid for travelling abroad).
- Application form, fully completed and signed by both parents.
- Pre-paid self-addressed special delivery envelope with the address where you wish to receive the document.

IMPORTANT: signatures of non-EU citizens must be authenticated by a British notary. Alternatively, the party concerned will be summoned to the Consulate for authentication at the counter and payment of a fee (art. 24).
