Adult citizens can only apply for a passport by appointment. Appointments must be made via the Prenot@mi portal (for appointments at the Consulate in Manchester) or by contacting one of our Honorary consular offices (for appointments at Honorary consular offices). Please ensure that you select the Consulate of Italy in Manchester as your Consulate of reference on the Prenot@mi portal.
Citizens aged 70 years old or over can visit the Consulate (58 Spring Gardens, M2 1EW Manchester) without an appointment, every Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Pregnant women can visit the Consulate (58 Spring Gardens, M2 1EW Manchester) without an appointment every Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If the pregnancy is not visible, a medical certificate proving the pregnancy must be presented.
Which documents should I bring to the appointment?
You must bring the following documents to the appointment:
- Form no. 1, completed in full;
- 2 identical passport photos, taken no more than 6 months ago and complying with ICAO standards;
- Proof of address dated no more than 3 months ago, in the applicant’s name (click here for a list of acceptable proofs of address);
- Valid Identity document;
- Previous Italian passport, if expired or damaged, and if available;
- Copy of Italian ID card, if available;
- If the applicant has minor children: Form no. 7;
- If the applicant’s previous passport has been stolen or lost: Form no. 4 and Police report.
If the appointment takes place at the Consulate in Manchester:
- Payment for the passport is made at the counter, exclusively with British debit cards (no international cards, no credit cards, no American Express);
- The passport is usually issued on the day of the appointment (if the application is correct and complete, i.e. the holder is registered with the AIRE through this Consulate and their personal and marital status is up to date). In some cases, the applicant will have to collect their passport at a later date, or receive it at home by prepaid post.
If the appointment takes place at the Honorary consular network:
- The new passport is sent to the applicant’s home address. Therefore, it is necessary to attach a prepaid Special delivery envelope up to 500g to the application, complete with the address for the passport to be sent to.
- Payment for the passport will be requested from the parents directly by the Passport Office of the Consulate in Manchester, once the application has been processed and verified. It is recommended that you monitor the email address indicated on the application form (including your spam folder). It is not necessary to write to the Passport office email address requesting information about payment, as all applicants will be contacted after the application has been processed.
