ETD

ETD

The Emergency Travel Document (ETD) is a temporary travel document valid for 5 days from the date of issue. It can be issued in case of theft or loss of the passport or the ID card, and to return to Italy (or to the EU member State where the applicant has their permanent residence) only. The ETD does not replace the passport, as it has a time-limited validity and is tied to the applicantàs return to their country of residence. Its issuance is reserved for Italian citizens NOT resident in the district of this Consulate and residing in Italy or another EU country - with exceptional cases to be evaluated by the Consulate.

To access the service, it is possible to present oneself at the Consulate (Consulate of Italy – The Chancery, Second Floor - 58 Spring Gardens - M2 1EW) on Tuesday and Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. exclusively on one of the five days prior returning to Italy or one's country of residence. Presenting the proof of travel (travel ticket) on the day is mandatory. Therefore, it is necessary to acquire the proof of travel BEFORE reporting to the Consulate. The applicant, including minors, must present in person the documents listed below.
