Italian and foreign individuals residing in the jurisdiction of the Consulate of Italy in Manchester can apply for a tax code by post. The same procedure applies if requesting the certification of an existing tax code.
Legal entities (companies, corporations, etc.) must apply for a tax code from the Internal Revenue Service.
To access the service, the following documents must be submitted:
- application form, duly completed and with a handwritten signature;
- photocopy of a valid identity document (passport or ID card), including the photo and signature page;
- proof of your residential address, such as those required for AIRE registration;
- for foreigners only, copy of birth certificate (without apostìlle, and translated only if in languages other than Italian or English).
The application needs to be posted to:
Consulate of Italy – AIRE Office
58 Spring Gardens - 2nd Floor
Manchester M2 1EW
The certification will be e-mailed in PDF format to the address provided by the applicant.
For applicants aged under 18, in addition to the identity document of the minor the identity document of the requesting adult is required, along with a copy of the birth certificate or other document (part of the passport or identity card showing the names of the parents) proving that the applicant has the right to act on behalf of the minor.
For applications from heirs on behalf of a deceased person, the identity card of the applicant or heir and a copy of the death certificate must be submitted in addition to the deceased's identity card. In this case, the proof of residence must be in the name of the tax code applicant.
PLEASE NOTE: to access the service, Italian citizens must be registered with AIRE and resident in this consular district. If the tax code applicant is not resident there, upon submission of the above documentation they will be automatically enrolled in AIRE by this Consulate.
The application must be completed in its entirety, taking care to enter the data exactly as it appears on the identity document. Italian citizens must write their names as per their Italian document, even when holding other citizenship(s). The tax code issued is based on the applicant's personal data: family name, given name(s), date, place and country of birth. Italian citizens must enter a confirmation of their personal data and those in the following categories must notify it in the "Notes" section of the form:
- Italians who have changed their surname as a result of marriage;
- descendants of Italian citizens holding other citizenship(s);
- spouses of Italian citizens.
