CERTIFICATES
Italian citizens registered with AIRE and residing in the Manchester jurisdiction can apply for the following certificates:
- Citizenship certificate
- Registration in the consular registry for a single person or a family
- Rimpatriation (only for those who have been registered in AIRE for at least one year)
- Registry certificate
- Contestuale
- Concordanza anagrafica (Identity confirmation certificate)
Certificates issued by Public Administrations are valid and usable only in relations between private individuals. Certificates issued by this Consulate will therefore have the indication "not usable for Public Administration". In any case, this Consulate does NOT issue certificates of AIRE enrolment, birth, marriage, death and divorce, or family status, for which it is necessary to apply to Italian Municipalities, and Criminal Certificates or Certificates of pending charges, which are issued exclusively by the Public Prosecutor's Offices in Italy.

Citizenship certificate
The Italian citizenship certificate attests to the applicant's possession of Italian citizenship.
Registration in the consular registry for a single person or a family
The Consular Register Entry Certificate attests to the current registration of the compatriot in the register of residents abroad, specifying the current address. It is NOT a certificate of AIRE registration, which can only be issued by one's own local authority, but a certificate of registration in the consular register, which will state that the person concerned is at the address present in the register and, if present, the composition of the family unit.
In order for the certificate to correspond to the compatriot's current situation, it is necessary to ascertain the regularity of his AIRE position.
Rimpatriation (only for those who have been registered in AIRE for at least one year)
In accordance with the provisions of the law in force, duty-free importation into Italy is allowed of used personal effects, furnishings, volumes, vehicles owned for at least 6 months at the date of the declaration, radios, televisions and HI-FI systems (indicating brand, model and serial number of the equipment), tools and instruments necessary for the profession, as well as other household items, belonging to Italian citizens who transfer their residence from abroad to the territory of the Italian Republic. For this purpose, a certificate issued free of charge by the competent consular authority must be presented to the Customs Office in Italy, certifying the possession of the requirements.
For the above-mentioned certificate to be issued, the interested party must have been registered with the A.I.R.E. (Anagrafe degli Italiani Residenti all'Estero) for at least one (1) year. In addition to the above, the applicant must send the following documentation to the Consulate by post, at least 30 days before the planned date of removal
- declaration of rimpatriation in original, duly completed and signed;
- three signed copies of the detailed list of household goods (including electronic devices).
Registry certificate
is a certificate which confirms the status of a citizen (single, married, divorced). In order that the certificate corresponds to your current circumstances, please make sure your AIRE position is up to date (birth registration, any marriage or divorce registration, current address)
Certificato Contestuale
Certificato Contestuale is a certificate which confirms at the same time the civil status, citizenship and residence of the individual. Certificato di concordanza anagrafica (Identity Confirmation certificate)
The identity Confirmation certificate certifies a person's identity in the case of changes in first name and/or surname. Typically, this is the case of a woman who has changed her surname to that of a married person according to United Kingdom law. In order to request such a certificate, it is first necessary to register the British marriage at one's local Municipality (Comune italiano). Once this act has been transcribed, it will be possible to apply for the certificate as described above, enclosing a copy of the Italian passport, proof of the surname by which the woman is known in the United Kingdom (preferably an identity document or, failing that, a generic utility bill, bank statement, etc.) and a self-declaration (FORM) from which the names in respect of which the identity of the person is to be certified are clearly shown.
